Coffee Grown in Different Places Carries a Different Flavor
You can learn to tell the difference between single origin coffee if you have very good taste buds, an attention to detail, and the time to properly sample many different coffee’s from many different parts of the world. Samples must be properly prepared with a great burr coffee grinder and a french press style coffee maker to provide the proper tasting experience. As soon as that coffee is blended with another from a different region, it become difficult to tell the exact region each came from.
Even coffee that is processed very differently from others in the freshly harvested stages and that is roasted differently still keeps many of the local characteristics that make it special and unique. Of course, nothing can really recover a completely over roasted coffee, and many roasters will purposefully char their beans to mask or smooth out any defects in a coffee’s flavor. While the might fool some consumers, the coffee connoisseur will catch them every time.
